Cher Opens Up About Final Moments With Late Mom Georgia Holt


Cher is opening up about the last moments of her mom’s life…

As you may have heard, the singer announced her mom Georgia Holt‘s passing through Twitter on Sunday with a tweet that simply read:

“Mom is gone”

A rep for the Believe songstress also confirmed the sad news to E!. You can see the tweet (below):

Back in September, the 76-year-old tweeted about her mom’s declining health, saying she had been “sick on & off”:

“Sorry I’ve Been Mia. Mom’s Been Sick Off & On.She Just Got Out Of Hosp.She Had Pneumonia.She’s Getting Better.”

Cher opened up on Tuesday about how her beloved mom was doing near the end of her life. She tweeted Georgia was “in so much pain” near the end:

“The truth…. She’s been Sick,&rallying,she then got bad,She was in so much pain. Finally she coded on way to Hosp. By time we Got to Hosp….The Woman who Who Was MY KICK ASS MOM was No long Here”

So sad, it’s never easy losing a parent. No matter how long you’ve had with your loved ones it just never feels like long enough…

The Goddess of Pop was always candid about her and the I Love Lucy alum’s relationship, in 2013 she spoke to People about how they often didn’t see eye to eye:

“I did a couple of things like running away when I was 11. I hopped a train with my friends. I was just very adventurous but never disrespectful. She wouldn’t have put up with that.”

She explained to the outlet she and her sister weren’t given advice by their mother, but instead they learned and lived based off of her actions and her journey. Holt truly lead her children by example:

“She never gave me and my sister advice because, truthfully, she knew we’d never take it. Instead, we learned about life by listening to her talk about the things she did wrong and the things she did right.”

The If I Could Turn Back Time hitmaker never lost her close relationship with her mom, though, even through all the ups and downs. Back in April she tweeted about how she still often went to spend time with her and how her “respect” grew every day:

“SO SORRY,WAS AT MOMS & JUST CAME HOME. NO SERVICE AT MOMS,BUT SHE WAS SO HAPPY I STAYED WITH HER.SHE’S A YOUNGTER OF 96 & 2 TALK ABOUT OLD DAYS,& OLD MOVIES WITH ME. SHE TELLS ME ALL THE TIME”BABE,GETTING OLD ISNT FOR SISSIES”.I SEE & RESPECT HER ALL THE MORE.SHES A TUFF .
