Catherine O’Hara always made Macaulay Culkin feel right at home.
So much so that, while costarring as a mother-son duo in Home Alone and Home Alone 2 in the early ’90s, the two formed a bond that spanned decades, leading up to O’Hara’s death at age 71 on Jan. 30.
“Mama. I thought we had time,” Culkin, 45, who portrayed Kevin McCallister opposite O’Hara’s Kate McCallister in the beloved films, wrote on Instagram. “I wanted more. I wanted to sit in a chair next to you. I heard you but I had so much more to say.”
“I love you,” he concluded. “I’ll see you later.”
Two years before O’Hara’s passing, the Emmy winner reunited with Culkin as he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“Home Alone was, is and always will be a beloved global sensation,” O’Hara said at the December 2023 ceremony. “The reason families all over the world can’t let a year go by without watching and loving Home Alone together is because of Macaulay Culkin.”
