You may not be able to find a franchise that was successful on both the video game and film level, but we have one in RESIDENT EVIL.
From 6 films that were successful but would get fair to middling reviews, to 7 games, 2 reboot games and a ton of extra content it’s safe to say that RESIDENT EVIL has a strangle hold on the horror franchise.
When the final film in the franchise starring Mila Jovovich came out, the general feeling was that due to declining box office and quality, the films would be ending and not rising from the grave anytime soon thanks to T-Virus.
That is until director Johannes Roberts was on a press junket for the film 47 METERS DOWN: UNCAGED and he started talking about developing a RESIDENT EVIL reboot that was scary like the video games, not like the previous installments of the films.
“We are in active development of that at the moment. I pitched them a take, and they really loved it. So, we are just gearing up on that as we speak, really. I’m in the office all the time there. So, yeah, it’s great. It’s gonna be super scary. It’s super, super scary. And it’s just getting back to the roots of the game. I think, at the moment, I’m not really allowed to say much more than that. But it’s gonna be a lot of fun.”
