While Majors hasn’t officially signed on to the project, Deadline reports that he is “very much on board,” and negotiations are heading in the right direction. The film is set to be distributed by Lionsgate and will be produced by Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and Aditya Sood. The screenplay for the feature will be written by Jordan VanDina, with no director attached as of now.

The movie, titled 48 Hours in Vegas, will tell the iconic story of Rodman’s two-day trip to Las Vegas in the middle of the 1998 NBA Finals. According to the report, the film will “detail a budding friendship that neither one of them ever thought was possible but will end up solving both of their problems.”

In real-life, Rodman and the Chicago Bulls assistant GM went to Vegas as the team prepared to capture its sixth NBA Championship. According to 2020’s documentary The Last Dance, then-Bulls head coach Phil Jackson granted Rodman permission to travel as a way to clear his mind.

However, when Rodman didn’t return on time, Jackson and Michael Jordan traveled to Nevada to retrieve him themselves. Despite the chaos of the situation, the vacation seemed to help Rodman, who returned to the Bulls reinvigorated and helped them capture another NBA Championship.
