Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu Begins Production, Adds Aaron Taylor-Johnson

Robert Eggers’ reimagining of the classic film Nosferatu is officially underway and has added another star to its already impressive cast list.

On Friday, Focus Features announced that production had commenced on the highly anticipated film. Alongside the news, they also revealed that Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Bullet Train, Kick-Ass, Godzilla) has joined the cast.

Taylor-Johnson will join a cast that already features some high-profile talent, including Bill Skarsgård (Barbarian), Nicholas Hoult (The Menu), Lily-Rose Depp (Wolf), Emma Corrin (Lady Chatterley’s Lover), Willem Dafoe (Inside), Simon McBurney (Carnival Row) and Ralph Ineson (The Green Knight).

Originally announced in 2015, Eggers’ film will be a remake of the iconic 1922 silent German film Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror. That film is not only regarded as one of the most influential works of art in the movie world and horror genre but also set the blueprint for many of the vampire tropes used today are, including a vampire dying from exposure to sunlight.

“Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu is a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman in 19th century Germany and the ancient Transylvanian vampire who stalks her, bringing untold horror with him,” reads the official synopsis of the upcoming film.
