Taylor Frankie Paul was arrested in February 2023 after an alleged physical altercation with Dakota Mortensen. She pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated assault and was remanded to probation.

Footage from the fight leaked in March 2026, in which Taylor was seen physically assaulting Dakota and throwing chairs at him. Taylor’s daughter, Indy, was also spotted in the corner of the room.

“Worst part is my daughter having to relive and see it all over again years later after extensive work with her and apologies to her about that night,” Taylor later wrote in a TikTok comment.

In bodycam footage from the arrest obtained by Us Weekly in March 2026, Taylor questioned the charges against her.

“What did I do wrong?” she asked a police officer. “Help me to know so I can do better. “I’m just so hurt emotionally. I’m just really hurting.”

Taylor continued to claim that the situation was “an accident.”

Another police video showed Dakota telling police that he was trying to “protect” Indy during the dispute.

“Every time I tried to help her, I was getting attacked, so I couldn’t,” he said. “I had to hold her down because she wouldn’t stop throwing stuff there. I tried to, like, hold her, squeeze her, almost like a bear hug, and then she just started hitting me again.”

2026

Us Weekly confirmed in March 2026 that Utah law enforcement had an open domestic violence investigation against Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen after being called to their house weeks earlier in late February 2026.

Amid the investigation, Taylor traveled to New York City to promote her season of The Bachelorette. While speaking to Us at a press event, she categorically denied the accusations.

“There’s more to the context to everything and it’s unfortunate,” Taylor exclusively told Us on March 17, 2026. “It’s been hard. And it sucks to be in this position. And the mother that I am, that is something I will always stand my ground on. I believe that I am a good mother and I have always treated my kids very well.”

What Could Happen Next?

In light of the three separate domestic incidents, police are also revisiting Taylor Frankie Paul’s plea deal.

“We are aware of the West Jordan allegations, and since Ms. Paul is on plea in abeyance status, we would always be interested in any subsequent allegations of criminal conduct during her probationary period,” Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill told Us on March 26, 2026. “If there is conduct out of West Jordan that rises to the level of a violation that would fall within our domain to file charges, then we would screen it when and if it is presented to us.”
