It’s January, it’s cold and rainy, and my usual skincare routine just isn’t cutting it. My complexion is parched, my lips are chapped and even my hands are now suffering from horribly dry skin. Luckily, as a beauty editor, I’ve got a skincare stash on hand to see me through all kinds of occasions, and I know just the product that will help bring my complexion back to life. Enter, CeraVe’s Advanced Repair Ointment.
This multi-purpose beauty product launched back in 2024, and honestly? I don”t think I could survive a winter without it. I like to think of it as my desert island beauty product, but for seriously cold conditions. At just £12, it’s something I recommend to everyone I know, which is why it’s only right that I share it with you too. Keep on scrolling for my full review.

The Formula
So, what is this product? It’s unique in the fact that it has a super balmy texture. At first, I thought this would be way too heavy for my skin, but I was pleasantly surprised by the non-greasy formula. It’s petroleum-based (yes, like those big pots of Vaseline), but it’s also enriched with a tri-blend of ceramides and hyaluronic acid, working to nourish the skin and add a visibly plumping effect. Not only that, but it also works to restore the skin barrier and create a protective layer over the skin’s surface, helping to shield your complexion from aggravating external elements.
How to Use It
Before you ask, no, it’s not something that I’d use in place of my daily moisturiser. Instead, it’s the kind of product I reach for when I want instant relief from dry skin. The great thing is that it can be used on the face, body and lips, so I like to keep a tube on my desk to apply to my lips throughout the day, whilst also keeping a tube in my bathroom cupboard for my face and body. I have about 100 lip balms at home, but nothing gets rid of chapped lips quite like this.
Because it’s been in my product rotation for so long, I’ve also found a few hidden uses along the way. Whenever I get a manicure, I like to apply a little bit of this to my cuticles to keep them looking fresh between appointments. It also imparts a serious glow to the skin, so sometimes, when I’m not wearing makeup but still want to look relatively put together, I apply a small amount to the high points of my face for a dewy finish. Oh, and it makes a great overnight lip mask. Trust me, this is one of those products that can come in handy for just about anything.
