Jessica Jones continues ‘gritty’ tone in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2
Krysten Ritter confirmed via ScreenRant that Jessica Jones returns in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. She said the “gritty” tone from the Netflix series remains.
Ritter stated, “It’s gritty. Like it feels big, too. The crew is amazing. I’ve had an amazing experience.” She added, “I love being with Charlie… it was as if no time had passed.” Ritter also shared that her first day back on set felt like a continuation: “Looking around like we’re back.”
Ritter revealed she is currently working on two shows set in New York, stating, “I’m like on the New York shows. Like all the crew is like, ‘Wait a minute, there’s two shows shooting in New York.’ I’m like, ‘Oh yeah, I’m doing both.’” She described the contrast between playing Jessica and another character, Mia, as “really creatively fulfilling.”
According to Marvel, Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 will premiere on March 24 and consist of eight episodes. The season follows Mayor Wilson Fisk, who “crushes New York City underfoot as he hunts down public enemy number one, the Hell’s Kitchen vigilante known as Daredevil.” As Matt Murdock fights back, he receives help from Jessica Jones, as seen in the trailer.
The season continues the street-level tone described by Marvel as “the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most intense street-level drama.” The cast includes Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Fisk, Wilson Bethel as Bullseye, Margarita Levieva as Heather Glenn, and Matthew Lillard as a new character, Mr. Charles.
The trailer teases a conflict between Daredevil and Fisk, with Jessica Jones appearing alongside Matt Murdock. Ritter said, “There’s more story for her. And it’s really exciting,” indicating Jessica Jones’ return will play a meaningful role in the season.
