Capsule Review: In the horribly titled Oh, Hi!, Molly Gordon stars as a loving girlfriend who discovers she isn’t a girlfriend after all–she’s just a casual encounter. There is also discovery for her almost-boyfriend, too, played by Logan Lerman: don’t tell someone who thinks they are in a committed relationship that you’re not on the same wavelength while chained naked to a bed.
At least they both got laid first.
Oh, Hi! starts out strong with great chemistry between the two leads, a funny premise, and an increasingly deranged performance by Gordon, who also co-wrote the movie with director Sophie Brooks. But it’s a movie where the hook is sharper than the “so what happens next?” part. While amusing throughout, Oh, Hi! becomes more bonkers and unrealistic without getting funnier or better, culminating in a third act that seems to strain for a satisfying conclusion.
