Stellan Skarsgård joins cast of Dakota Fanning-led Apple TV thriller series
Stellan Skarsgård has joined the cast of an untitled Apple TV+ thriller series headlined by Dakota Fanning, according to Deadline.
The series, developed by showrunner and executive producer Alex Cary via his FLW Productions banner under his overall deal with Sony Pictures Television, follows an undercover Treasury agent embedded in a multibillion-dollar international conglomerate with political and criminal connections worldwide.
Fanning’s character becomes conflicted between her mission and her growing belief that her principal target, the heir apparent to the conglomerate’s corrupt power, is “at his core a good man and worthy of her love.” Skarsgård will play Brandt, the head of that international conglomerate.
The casting marks a notable family connection, as Skarsgård previously worked with Dakota’s sister Elle Fanning in Sentimental Value. He received an Academy Award nomination and won a Golden Globe for his role as a fading film director and estranged father in the film.
Elle Fanning executive produces the Apple TV+ series alongside Dakota, who also stars. Additional executive producers include Julie Gardner for Bad Wolf America, Brittany Kahan Ward of Lewellen Pictures, and director Kari Skogland.
Skarsgård’s recent credits include the Dune film franchise and the Disney+ Star Wars series Andor. His work on Sentimental Value, which he also executive produced, saw the Norwegian film win the Grand Prix at Cannes and take home the Oscar for International Feature Film.
CAA and Curtis Brown Group represent the veteran Swedish actor. Sony Pictures Television produces the untitled series, with Cary operating under his overall deal with the studio.
