HBO has revealed the first look at Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness, Larry David’s new American history-themed sketch comedy series. The seven-episode series premieres Friday, June 26th.
David previewed the series during an appearance at SXSW on Friday (via Variety). Each episode contains about four sketches, featuring a cast that includes both Curb Your Enthusiasm alumni and other Hollywood luminaries.
Confirmed cast members include Bill Hader (as Abraham Lincoln), Kathryn Hahn (as Mary Todd Lincoln), Jon Hamm and Sean Hayes (as the Wright brothers), and Susie Essman (as Susan B. Anthony). Additionally, Jerry Seinfeld and David will reunite in a sketch about Lewis and Clark, and Barack Obama will appear in an undisclosed role. Obama and his wife, Michelle Obama, serve as executive producers on the series.

In the first clip released from the series (seen below), David’s play a character in the middle of V-J Day.
Per a logline for the show previously shared by HBO, “President and Mrs. Obama wanted to honor America’s 250th anniversary and celebrate the unique history of our nation on this special occasion… But then Larry David called.”
“I’ve sat across the table from some of the world’s most difficult leaders and wrestled with some of our most intractable problems,” President Obama said in a statement. “Nothing has prepared me for working with Larry David.”
