Radiohead are bringing the KID A MNESIA universe into real life, premiering at a new underground bunker at Coachella on April 10th. After the festival, the audiovisual experience will continue for a limited time in a handful of cities, including Brooklyn, Chicago, Mexico City, and San Francisco.
The installation will house the titular film, comprising artwork created by Thom Yorke and Stanley Donwood during the making of Kid A and Amnesiac, set to a soundtrack featuring the original multitracks. Motion Picture House: KID A MNESIA will host galleries featuring Yorke and Donwood’s full-scale artwork from that era.
Fans may remember Radiohead’s 2021 KID A MNESIA experience for PC, Mac, and PS5 — which was more of a playable art installation than a video game — allowing players to wander through twisted rooms built from the original artwork, multitracks, and creatures tied to the albums. It stitched together Yorke and Donwood’s artwork and the albums’ stems into a feverish dream world you could walk through virtually. The exhibition was always meant to be a real‑world experience, but the pandemic forced it to become digital.

Now, it’s finally happening in real life: Radiohead have confirmed the next evolution of that world, the massive physical art installation. Motion Picture House: KID A MNESIA is the version they couldn’t build back then. Powered by a custom six‑point surround system, Yorke describes its internal story as “a Monster trapped in a derelict museum of the lost and forgotten.”
The installation will premiere underground at Coachella, inside a newly built bunker that spans 17,000 square feet with 38‑foot ceilings beneath the Empire Polo Fields. All Coachella ticketholders can access it. After its Coachella run, Motion Picture House: KID A MNESIA will travel to a short list of North American cities for a limited time.
Tickets are available for two‑hour blocks Thursday through Sunday: 75 minutes for the main installation and film, plus time to explore the galleries. Fans can pre‑register at kida-mnesia.com through April 12th at 11:59 p.m. PT for the opportunity to buy pre-sale tickets. Selected fans will be eligible to join the presale on Wednesday, April 22nd, with remaining tickets available to the general public on Friday, April 24th at 10:00 a.m. local time.
In other Radiohead news, Ed O’Brien recently said the band has settled on a touring plan that will see them play 20 shows across a different continent each year beginning in 2027.
O’Brien, who has a new solo album called Blue Morpho arriving on May 22nd, also teased that Thom Yorke has an upcoming project of his own “coming out later in the year.”
