Maitreyi Ramakrishnan celebrated the season three premiere of “Never Have I Ever” on the red carpet with her fellow castmates on Thursday, Aug. 11, in LA. The actor, who stars as Devi Vishwakumar in the Netflix series, wore a black satin gown by Bach Mai for her big night.
While Ramakrishnan and her stylist, Joseph Cassell Falconer, often gravitate toward colorful pieces, they chose an edgier look this time around that showcased a more mature silhouette, featuring a halter neckline, draped detailing, and a thigh-high leg slit. Ramakrishnan’s ensemble was complete with classic black ankle-strap sandals and a silver bracelet. She rocked a dark smoky eye, messy ponytail, and black french manicure to match.
Emerging American couturier Bach Mai has also dressed the likes of Venus Williams and Tessa Thompson. At the “King Richard” premiere last November, Williams wore a silver metallic version of Ramakrishnan’s dress. That same month at the Gotham Awards, Thompson donned a Victorian-inspired strapless ball gown by the designer, which she paired with leather opera gloves.
Since entering the scene just a few years ago with her breakout “Never Have I Ever” role, Ramakrishnan has already impressed with her playful style at events. For the 19th annual Unforgettable Gala in December 2021, she wore an intricate rainbow dress made from upcycled sarees by Indian designer Ashwin Thiyagarajan. More recently, the actor has continued to show off vibrant pieces while promoting the latest season of “Never Have I Ever,” which dropped on Netflix Aug. 12. For a “Tonight Show” appearance on Aug. 9, she wore a whimsical Zimmermann minidress covered in purple, pink, and blue florals.
