The reveal took place on the Monday night episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The host introduced Bailey as a guest while also revealing the cover for the November 17 issue of People’s Magazine. “It is an honor of a lifetime,” Bailey said, when asked by Fallon how it feels to be on the cover of People’s Magazine for Sexiest Man Alive. This reveal comes after the British actor starred in two blockbusters recently — Wicked and Jurassic World: Rebirth.
During his interview with PEOPLE, Bailey opened up about his acting career. When asked about when he realized he was getting famous, he narrated how he heard a radio host say one morning, “Here’s the news at 7. But just before we go, can we talk about Jonathan Bailey?” The 37-year old actor added, “I was like, ‘Where is my journal? Is this real?’ It was wild.”
Bailey’s career over the past few years has been remarkable. Winning hearts with his performance in Bridgerton as Lord Anthony, he also received an Emmy nomination for his role as Tim Laughlin in Fellow Travellers. He seemingly knew he wanted to be an actor at the age of 5, after watching a performance on Oliver! with his grandmother. His parents Carol and Stuart raised him and his three older sisters in rural Oxfordshire.
When asked by PEOPLE about his thoughts about hearing the news of being crowned 2025’s Sexiest Man Alive, Bailey said, “It’s a huge honor. Obviously I’m incredibly flattered. And it’s completely absurd. It’s been a secret, so I’m quite excited for some friends and family to find out.”
