Paul Sun-Hyung Lee joins Kyle Meredith to talk about Avatar: The Last Airbender, now streaming on Netflix. Listen to the new episode above, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Lee discussing wanting to put his own stamp on the beloved character Iroh for the new live-action rendition of the classic animated series, intentionally taking from his own experiences rather than mimicking the original voice actors. The actor then dives further, providing a spirited dissection of Iroh’s compassion and redemption arc.

Avatar: The Last Airbender isn’t the only big-name franchise the actor has dipped his toe into, though, as he’s also a part of the Star Wars universe, portraying Captain Carson Teva in The MadalorianThe Book of Boba Fett, and Ahsoka. As the conversation turns towards a galaxy far, far away, Lee speaks on rumors about whether or not he was contacted to be in the now-canceled Rangers of the New Republic.

“Nobody spoke to me, nobody from Lucasfilm, there was never an official offer for that,” he says. “I was really hoping there would be. I kind of let the fans do the heavy lifting on that, and if they want to believe that, absolutely, but I cannot confirm that.”
