Zach Bryan may be sorry for his recent run in with police, but the folks over at Spotify sure aren’t. In a cheeky new move, the streaming service has snagged the country superstar’s brand new mugshot and placed it on the cover of its “Outlaw” country playlist.
Bryan, whose self-titled album and duet with Kacey Musgraves both sit No. 1 on the Billboard album and singles charts, was arrested in Oklahoma this week for obstruction of an investigation. The artist explained the situation in a lengthy video soon after his release, explaining that he got “too lippy” with an officer who had pulled over his security guard as the two were journeying in separate cars.
After the artist pulled over to smoke a cigarette and supervise the officer’s interaction with his security guard, the officer ordered him to get back in his vehicle or risk going to jail. Soon enough, Bryan had handcuffs on, which led to a back-and-forth with the cop. “I was just an idiot and I’ll take the fall for it,” Bryan said, acknowledging that he was “mouthing off like an idiot, like an actual child.”
If his newfound success doesn’t make Bryan feel better, maybe his company on the Spotify playlist will. The singer can now call himself a peer of sorts of OG outlaws Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, and Willie Nelson, as well as contemporary badasses like Margo Price and Jason Isbell.
