Samantha Newark will be a featured guest on The Jimmy Star Show live radio/tv show hosted by King of Cool Jimmy Star along with Cool Man About Town Ron Russell and Hollywood Vixen Deidra Sarego to discuss “Jem & The Holograms” , her career and the entertainment industries at large. The Jimmy Star Show is tv/radio’s coolest hit show, featuring the coolest in music, entertainment, fashion and pop culture, all from a fun industry insider perspective in a completely live, unedited fast-paced two-hour conversational format.
Known to millions of children of the 80’s for her iconic voice work as Jem and Jerrica in the wildly popular and beloved animated series “Jem and the Holograms”, Samantha is soon to appear alongside Juliet Lewis and Molly Ringwald in a top secret cameo role for the much anticipated Universal movie version of Jem. The live action film directed by Jon M. Chu and is due to hit theaters around the globe October 23rd, 2015.
As well as starring as Jem, Samantha is a part of the iconic Hasbro brand Transformers with her guest-starring roles as “Ariel”, “Elise Presser” and “The Zamajon Empress”. Samantha can also be heard as the gentle British voice of Peter Pan’s mother in Steven Spielberg’s feature film “Hook”. As well as her countless on camera, voice-over, TV and radio commercials, she also starred in the campy horror flick Summer Camp Nightmare with Chuck Conners as rebel camper Debbie.
Calling Nashville TN her home, Samantha is writing and recording her third solo Pop/electronica/dance album. Her original music and vocals have been featured on many block buster game titles, movie soundtracks and hit t.v. shows such as Smallville, Gossip Girl, The Ellen Show and the Kardashian franchise.
Invited back to do more voice work this year in the up coming animated short film HG Chicken starring Bobcat Goldthwait, the same animation team that brought festival favorite Pound Dogs to the big screen\. She is also very much anticipating the release this year of a very special project called “Square Zair Pair” an upcoming children’s book from author Jase Peeples and illustrator Christine Knopp that hopes to teach young kids “about celebrating the diversity of couples in a community.” The LGBT community has always held a very special place in Sam’s heart and she is thrilled to have been invited to do the voice-over for the audio book.
With a wildly loyal global fandom for Jem and the Holograms that has brought about a gorgeous new collectors Doll line from Hasbro and Integrity Dolls, and a brand new Jem and the Holograms comic book series by IDW publishing. Hasbro will launch in the fall a new Jem makeup line with Sephora, new Jem hair colors from Manic Panic and Jem clothing and accessories by Shopbop just in time for the October movie release.
Not only touring for her music but Samantha also loves to travel to meet her fans at pop culture conventions, such as San Diego Comic Con International, all over the world and is so thrilled a brand new generation of kids are growing up with the magic of the original cartoon on Netflix and Discovery kids channel.
It would seem Samantha is poised to continue her enduring legacy as the truly outrageous “Original” Pink Haired Pop Princess.
